In loving memory of

Donnie Kuhlmann
April 16, 1951 - July 6, 2022

Donald "Donnie" Wilbur Kuhlmann was born on April 16, 1951, the son of Wilbur and Betty (Marth) Kuhlmann in Sioux City, Iowa. He was baptized on May 20, 1951, and later confirmed his faith on April 3, 1966, all at St. John Lutheran Church, where he remained a lifetime member. He attended Charter Oak-Ute Schools and graduated with the class of 1970. Following his education, he enlisted in the Iowa Army National Guard and served until his honorable discharge.

Donnie married Teri Mohr on May 8, 1971, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa and had three daughters: Michelle, Jami and Tera. The family made their home in the Charter Oak area. For 45 years, Donnie was employed with Farmland/Smithfield and held various positions.

Donnie and Teri enjoyed canning their garden produce every summer; they were especially known for their salsa and horseradish. Some of his favorite memories were playing fast-pitch softball with the teams of Charter Oak and Danbury as the catcher. He worked tirelessly at the softball field when his girls were playing. He enjoyed teaching and sharing his love of the game with his girls and their teammates. He later started umpiring high school baseball and softball. He also enjoyed bowling for a number of years. In the fall, he enjoyed helping a local farmer with their harvest. Following retirement, a couple of his favorite pastimes were watching westerns on TV and having ice-cold Budweiser's with friends.

Donnie passed away suddenly at his home on July 6, 2022, at the age of 71 years, two months and 20 days.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Michael Kuhlmann; sister, Linda (Kevin) Boeck; and father-in-law, Fred Mohr. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Teri Kuhlmann of Charter Oak; three daughters: Michelle Polzin of Denison, Jami (Dustin) Henschen of Mapleton, and Tera (Michael) Keglovich of St. Petersburg, Florida; seven grandchildren: Dylan Hanson, Drew Polzin, Blake Polzin, Jenna Hanson, Matthew Hanson, Ava Keglovich and Evan Keglovich; step-grandchildren: Derek Henschen and Jayde Henschen; step-great-grandson, Knoxx Henschen; mother-in-law, Darlene Mohr of Ute; and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation with the family greeting friends will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak. Memorials may be directed to the family.
