Leah Chamberlin
January 17, 1959 - July 9, 2022

Leah Chamberlin, 63, of Granger, Iowa passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in her home on Saturday, July 9, 2022. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Grimes Community Center in Grimes, Iowa. Chaplin Dan Koch will open with a blessing and prayer at 11:00 a.m. special music by the Tapestry Quartet will start at 1:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held later.

She was born on January 17, 1959, to Dave and Dorothy (Freegard) Johnson in Watertown, South Dakota. Her family relocated to Muscatine, where she graduated from Muscatine High School in 1977. After school, she briefly attended the University of Iowa. She began working for The Telephone Company in 1979. Leah went on to marry her high school sweetheart, Jeffrey Chamberlin on December 19, 1981. After 40 years of working for the Telephone Company, she retired in 2019. Leah was a member of Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. Leah found joy in raising her kids, spending time with her family (most especially her grandchildren), playing in the dirt, flowers, and traveling.

Those left to cherish her loving memory are her husband Jeff Chamberlin, of Granger, IA; children David (Stephanie) Chamberlin of Indianapolis, IN, Randall Chamberlin of Joplin, MO, Bailey (Alex) Graspy of Grimes, IA, and Marcy (Brad) Nielsen of Urbandale; grandchildren Caleb, Abigail, Layne, Dawson, Graham, and Myla; siblings Ann (Pete) DeGabriele, Keith (Joann) Johnson, Don (Deb) Johnson, Greg (Luanne) Johnson, and Karen (Tony) Woods; brother-in-law Doug (Mary) Chamberlin; sisters-in-law Lori Garmon, Teri (Barry) McManus, Tami Pardie, Sheri (Roger) Roeder, and Kari (Mike) Raushenberger; many many nieces and nephews; and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Duane and Jeff Johnson.
