Darlene F. Thurman
March 23, 1947 - July 4, 2022

Darlene Faye Thurman died on July 4, 2022 at her home in Canton, Illinois surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 23, 1947 to Dale and Mary (Grigsby) McCance who proceeded her in death. She married Jim English on December 31, 1965. They divorced and she later married Jack Thurman on November 11, 2012. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2013.
Darlene is survived by her children, Jimmy English of Canton, Peggy (Jeff) Baysingar of Elmwood, and Dwayne (Wendy) English of Plainfield. She is also survived by her twin sister and best friend, Arlene Ford (late Harold Ford) of Geneseo/Canton; sisters Linda Shaver of Willcox, Arizona and Sue (David) Roberts of Cuba; brother Bob (Sherry) McCance of Marietta; sister-in-law Sue McCance of Cuba; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale McCance of Bernadotte and John McCance of Cuba. Darlene grew up in Smithfield, Illinois and graduated from Cuba High School. She was a police dispatcher for many years in Key Largo, Florida, as well as Farmington and Canton. She later worked for Re/Max in Peoria retiring in 2009. Darlene enjoyed coffee, shopping, jewelry and watching the Inspiration Channel, specifically Gunsmoke.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, July 8, 2022, at the Farmington Moose Lodge, #1571, 1001 East Fort Street, Farmington. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Moose. Food and fellowship will follow. Family graveside services will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the John McCance Senior Art Award at Cuba High School or Dr. Harold Ford Scholarship Fund at Geneseo High School.
