Rev. Donald B. Moseley
June 15, 1936 - June 25, 2022

Reverend Donald Bradley Moseley, 86, of Quincy, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2022, in his home.

Don was born June 15, 1936, to Fred Noel Moseley and Mayble Ruth Becraft Moseley in Garden City, KS. He had two brothers, Deryle Gene and Fred Noel, Jr, both preceded him in death. Don graduated from the Garden City High School in 1955. In 1956, he was drafted to the U.S. Army and served two years during peace time in Korea.

Don married Carol Ann Nixon on June 13, 1964. They celebrated 58 years of marital bliss on the day he was hospitalized. She survives and resides in Quincy, IL They have two children, Tabetha Marie Moseley (Rick) Pritchard, Farmersville, IL and Steven Harold (Kim) Moseley, Mt. Pleasant, IA.

At an early age, Don developed a deep sense of God's presence in his life. It was while in Korea that he responded to God's call into the ministry. He started his "Forty days in the wilderness" at Phillip University in Enid, OK, upon discharge from the Army in 1958. He received his BA from Phillip University in 1964. And his Master of Divinity from Phillips Theological Seminary in 1968. While at Phillips, Don worked on campus and served student pastorates of Christian Churches in Rock, KS; Bluff City, KS; Arnett, OK; Oakwood, OK; Tangier, OK; Sumner, OK; and Central Christian Church Bartlesville, OK. On May 21, 1968, he was ordained at the Willow Road Christian Church located in Enid, OK.

Don and Carol Ann accepted a call to the Nemaha Christian Church, Nemaha, NE in 1968. They served this church from June 1, 1968, to May 1971. Carol Ann and Don found a great formula for ministering to small rural congregations. She made a living as an RN, and he worked on his avocation, ministering to people.

In October 1971, Don and Carol Ann accepted a call to the Livonia Christian Church, Livonia, MI., and served there until July 15, 1973. This small-town kid was out of his league in the Detroit area, but enjoyed the time spent there.

Don and Carol Ann later accepted a call to the Virginia-Chandlerville Christian Church Unity in Chandlerville and Virginia, IL, July 29,1973 and served until October 20, 1987.

Don and Carol Ann accepted a call to the Kahoka Christian Church, Kahoka, MO, and served from November 1, 1987, to September 2, 2001. Don retired from the full-time ministry on September 2, 2001.

During his long career, Don belonged to the following organizations:

Nemaha, NE: member of Nebraska District III organization, conducted recreation program for Nemaha, member and officer of Nemaha County Minister Association, member of Nemaha Village board, worked with CYF and Chi Rho on the district level, joint VBS with Methodist Church in Nemaha.


Livonia, MI: Member of Minister's Association participated in regional and district work, UCC and Christian Church shared same building. He was part of a joint commission to oversee this unity.

Chandlerville - Virginia, IL: member of and held offices in Virginia Minister's Association, participated in regional and cluster work, work with CROP, member of Advisory Council Chandlerville School, President of Kiwanis, member of College of Professional Ministers in IL. and WI., wrote articles for Gazette - Times newspaper, member of Mental Health 708 Board and officer for 10 years, member of Winterization Council, served on the Board of Directors Barton Stone Christian Home, worked on an Ad Hoc committee to help start day care in Virginia, helped man fair booth in Virginia, judged spelling bee contest in Chandlerville, worked with community food pantry in Virginia, worked with UNICEF to canvass in Virginia, Co-Chaired P.T.O. Alumni banquet, helped with volleyball tournaments in Chandlerville, was on West Central Authority Mental Health Board.

Kahoka, MO: Kahoka Minister's Association - Secretary and Treasurer, Kiwanis Secretary for 12 years, member of Permanency Planning Review Team-Family Service, Clark County Food Pantry-Secretary, Board member of Northeast Area Board of Mid-America, helped deliver meals for the Nutrition Center, wrote articles for The Media, member of SHARE a food program, President of I CAN (a 1993 flood program) and Chairman of Unmet Needs committee for 1993 flood, Habitat for Humanity Kahoka, president and on the Greater Keokuk Area Habitat for Humanity board, member of Capital Campaign committee for Phillip Theological Seminary for Northeast Missouri.

Upon retirement, Don became a member of the First Christian Church in Quincy, IL where he served as a deacon, choir member, Chair of the Outreach Committee, and was the First Christian Church representative on the Quincy Unmet Needs committee. He was a member of the Kiwanis Golden K Club of Quincy, and the chaplaincy program of Blessing Hospital. If he was not giving in his time other places, he looked forward to all family get togethers, enjoyed gardening, stamp and coin collecting, puzzles, playing solitaire, working crosswords, traveling the world by cruise vacations, listening to music, was incredibly well-read with a diverse selection of books and an enthusiastic arborist.

Don saw participation in organizations to fulling ministering. As a child he had a deep sense of God's presence in his life. That presence kept saying, "I have shown my love to you, now go and tell others of my love." By nature, he was quiet and most enjoyed one on one interaction. However, the love of God was so strong in his life that he became involved with organizations to show and tell others of God's love. Most of his sermons contained this theme.

Along with his loving wife, Carol Ann, Don is survived by his two children who adored him, Tabetha (Rick) Pritchard and Steven (Kim) Moseley, Sister-in-Law Linda (John) Hyatt, Brother-In-Law David (Susan) Nixon, and Brother-In-Law Keith (Sabina) Nixon. Grandkids: Joshua, Jacob, and Sean (Emily) and Tyson (Misty Erwin) Pritchard, Jessica Williams, Venita Frye, Skylur (Kayla) Moseley, Dakota Armstrong, and Teal (Ronald) Kibbe. 18 Great Grand Kids, 6 Great-Great Grandkids. Numerous dear nieces and nephews.


Don was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Noel (Mayble) Moseley, stepfather Ed Whitmer, grandparents, George (Gertie) Moseley and Albert (Lulu) Becraft, brothers, Deryle (Alice) Moseley and Fred (Nola) Moseley, nephew, Noel Moseley, and in-laws, Harold (June) Nixon.


Services: 10:00 am Saturday, July 2, 2022 at First Christian Church in Quincy, with Rev. Keela Neuman officiating. Donald will be cremated after services per his wishes. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #37 and the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.


Visitation: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, July 1, 2022 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
