In loving memory of

Lynn Marie Blunk
April 30, 1959 - June 21, 2022

Lynn Marie Krapfl was born April 30, 1959, to Karl James an Alice Mae (Oertell) Krapfl in Dubuque, Iowa. She was raised on a farm near Greeley, Iowa. Her fondest memories of the farm were playing with the baby animals and riding her tricycle up and down the aisles of the barn. Lynn received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Greeley, under the direction of Fr. White. Lynn attended grade school at West Delaware Community Schools, middle school at Edgewood/Colesburg Community Schools, and graduated from North Winneshiek High School. Lynn was a straight A honor student and never missed a single day of school... NEVER. Lynn earned an Associate Degree in Nursing at NEIA College in Calmar, BSN from the University of Nebraska, and continued education in nursing classes at the University of Iowa. Lynn's nursing career expanded 36 years, specializing in high-risk obstetrics. During her nursing career, co-workers dubbed her "Lynn-isms": 'Uffda'; 'Oh, Yeah, You Bettcha'; 'Darn It'; and 'Jeppers Cats'. She was also known to have a can of Dr. Pepper within her reach. Lynn retired from nursing on October 22, 2017.

Lynn was very dedicated to her family. She enjoyed hosting the best parties for her children and taking family vacations. Every year, her children were spoiled with the most decorative Halloween and snack filled super bowl parties! Summer vacations with the kids, nationwide travels with Bruce, and family Puerto Vallarta vacations were among her favorite trips.

Lynn enjoyed music, traveling, arts and crafts, decorating, and creating floral arrangements. Lynn was a giver to others; this brought much joy to her and others. The gifts were always well thought out, with the receiver in mind. "The joy is in the giving, not receiving." This was a genuine act of kindness in her eyes. Lynn's musical talents included playing by ear, playing the organ at church, and singing. Lynn was in sixth grade when she first played the organ for a wedding. She was involved in many high school musicals.

Lynn and Bruce Blunk were married June 5, 1999, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison by Fr. Hoffman. Bruce and Lynn have a blended family of four sons: Jeremy Adam, Jonathon Steven, Joshua Patrick and Gregory Bruce. Lynn is grandmother, "Nana," to Hudson James (and two other grandchildren, one due, July 2022 and the other December 2022).

Lynn fought a gallant fight but lost her battle to Multiple System Atrophy, on June 21, 2022, peacefully, with her family by her side at her home in Vail. MSA is a rare brain disorder, affecting all muscles of the body and it affects about three in every 100,000 people. There is no treatment or cure for MSA.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 23 years of marriage, Bruce Blunk of Vail; four sons: Jeremy Snell and significant other, Heather of Mabel, Minnesota, Jonathan Snell and fiancé, Zoe Presley of West Des Moines, Joshua Snell and wife, Morgan and their son, Hudson James all of Grimes, and Gregory Blunk of Lincoln, Nebraska; her mother, Alice Krapfl of Denison; siblings: Ronald Krapfl of Battle Creek, Deborah Robinson of Converse, Texas, Julie and husband, Nile Funk of Nashua, Iowa Larry Krapfl and his wife, Tracie of Anthon, and Kathy Thul and her husband, Ross of Denison; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Karl Krapfl; mother and father-in-law, Joyce and Donald Blunk, brother-in-law, Robert Robinson, brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Julie Blunk; and several aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2022 with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Vail. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022 also at St. Ann Catholic Church in Vail. Interment will be held in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Kiron. Memorials may be directed to the family.

"I remember the time Aunt Lynn and the boys came to San Antonio for a visit with mom, dad, Rick and myself. We had decided one day to go to Fiesta Texas! Aunt Lynn?s laughs and smiles that day were so contagious! She told us kids that she was going to protect us from my mom from taking her in a roller costed that went backwards! Boy did Aunt Lynn laugh! She never missed a Christmas! Always was singing or playing the organ! When her great nieces and nephews came along she made sure they were all included in everything! We all love you and will miss you dearly Aunt Lynn! Love always, Christina, Rick?s, Nathanial, Hanna, Asher "
