In loving memory of

Mary Ann Lavarda Rube
January 3, 1960 - June 3, 2022

On Friday, June 3, 2022, Mary Ann (Lavarda) Rube passed away in Whittier, California, at the young age of 62, after being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease in 2019. She grew up in Roseland on the South Side of Chicago. In 1976 she moved to Whittier, California, with her parents and sister and completed high school at Whittier High. She majored in accounting at Rio Hondo College and worked many years in that field.
On August 22, 1981, Mary Ann married the love of her life, Alexander Rube, and they were married until the time of her death. Many Ann enjoyed dance music and loved to go dancing. Many weekends she could be found at a local night club dancing to the music of her favorite band. She had a way of making friends with her infectious smile and easy-going manner. Her many friends could count on her for advice or just to lend an ear.
Many Ann was preceded in death by her father, Sinesio; her mother, Albina; and brother, John Lavarda. She is survived by her husband, Alex; her brother, Tony Lavarda (wife Judy); her sister-in-law, Cathy Lavarda; her sister, Theresa (Lavarda) Jacobsen (husband Mike); eleven nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and friends and family too numerous to list.

In case people inquire about flowers for Mary Ann Rube, the family has requested that donations may be made to Cure Alzheimer's Fund, https://curealz.org.

"I am saddened to learn about the passing of Mary Ann Rube. And I extend my deepest condolences to Alex and Mary Ann's family. I really enjoyed how gregarious she was and liked her husky, smokey voice, you always knew it was Mary Ann when you heard the voice. She and Alex were fun to be around. She will be missed."

"Mary Ann was smart, funny, beautiful, and gutsy. While a light has blown out on this earth, it shines brightly on the other side. Rest in peace little Cousin. "
