In loving memory of

Robert Earl Jones
September 7, 1930 - June 16, 2022

Bob was born and grew up in the Rochester area. He attended Madison HS. Bob was drafted into the Airforce at age 18 and served 4 years. He returned to Rochester and obtained his BS in mechanical engineering from RIT. Bob married his wife of 64 years, Elsie, in 1955. They settled on Maiden Lane in 1963. As a young man, Bob enjoyed bowling, playing cards and fishing. Most of these hobbies were intermittently enjoyed through the years as the family grew from 2 children to 3 and then 4. Bob still had a fishing license in his wallet, circa 1970 something, you know, just in case!
Bob worked for Bausch + Lomb for 32+ years. This career would bring some lifelong friendships. Bob retired in 1996, just as computers were becoming much more common. Bob learned the technology and used it every day. He bought from Amazon, Instacart, and Grub Hub. He texted on the iPhone, and looked at photos through Google and kept up to date through Facebook. Bob emailed his friends weekly.
Bob's email was MRFIX (yes that is Mister Fix). While Bob found his aptitude for mechanics in the service, he used it at work and at home regularly. Bob fixed everything from the car to the washing machine and a few small toys strategically left for him to find.
Bob was also an innovator. He held patents from his time at Bausch + Lomb. Bob traveled to Washington for many weeks at a time in the late 1960's. It was not until recently that the family found out that he was working on government innovations in optics and filming (long since declassified).
Bob had a witty sense of humor. Household events were relayed in stories with morals. The situation might not have been funny but the re-telling sure was!
This funny, intelligent, loving Dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend will be missed every day.

Bob passed away on June 16, 2022 at the age of 91. Predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Elsie. He is survived by his children, Karen (Richard) Moscato, Brian (Linda) Jones, Barbara (Thomas) Natalie & Susan (Christopher) Dewey; grandchildren, Rebecca (Chad) Sherwood, Michael (Ann) Moscato, Allison Moscato, Douglas Natalie, Jennifer (Kevin) Penkrot, Jason Jones, Jacob (fiancé Victoria Rice) Natalie & Cassandra Jones; 6 great-grandsons.

Robert's life will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 2nd at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane, Rochester NY 14626. In Robert's memory please dress in casual attire. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or the Veterans Outreach Center, 447 South Ave, Rochester, NY 14620 in Robert's memory.
