In loving memory of

John F. Peck
May 28, 1933 - June 11, 2022

John Francis Peck, 89, passed away at home on June 11,2022 after a long illness.
John was born at home in rural Blackford County, IN on May 28, 1933. He was the son of the late Garland and Doris (Monroe) Peck.
John graduated from Montpelier High School in 1951. He held the school record for shotput until his younger brother, Richard, broke it.
After graduation, he worked at Anaconda in Marion before getting drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953. He completed basic training in Ft. Knox, Kentucky and was then transferred to an AEC base in New Mexico. After his discharge in 1955, he returned to Marion to work at Anaconda.
On July 28, 1956, he married the love of his life Judith Scheppele. They would have celebrated their 66th anniversary this July.
In August 1956, he started his apprenticeship in the sheet metal trade. He worked for several shops, but spent most of his career with Linigers in Marion.
In 1980, Judy opened an antique shop in Van Buren. Together, they spent the next 20 years doing shows around Indiana. John enjoyed refinishing the furniture, and that remained a life-long hobby. He repaired and restored many beautiful pieces to be enjoyed by generations for customers and family alike. Also, in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
After 39 years in the sheet metal trade, he retired in July 1995. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 20 in Ft. Wayne for nearly 65 years.
John was a hard worker and a great provider for his family. He could do and fix just about anything. He enjoyed being outside, and took pride in keeping his property and vehicles immaculate.
He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. He loved his family more than anything. His five grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed going to their activities when he could. He was so proud of each and every one of them. John and his oldest grandson, Travis, did many projects together over the years. He believed Travis could handle any project, and Travis loved working with his grandpa and learned a lot from him.
