Shirley A. Wise
April 2, 1938 - June 12, 2022

Shirley A. (Burton) Wise, 84, passed away June 12, 2022, while at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. She was born in Pike County, April 2, 1938, to Gothe Nathaniel and Edna (Robling) Burton. On November 21, 1959, she married James Daryle Wise, and they made their home together until his passing on December 7, 1999.

A graduate of Petersburg High School, Shirley had worked as a nurses aide and was a department manager at K-Mart for many years. More recently, she was a matron at the Washington High School, and a receptionist for H & R Block. A woman of many interests, Shirley enjoyed reading mysteries and romance novels, and her love of travel took her to many US states as well as Canada. She was a devoted member to the Church of Christ.

Those who now mourn Shirley's passing include her children: Scott (Wendy) Wise of Washington; Beth (Pat) Pirone of Seattle; Lori (Greg) Mundy of Washington; and Daryle Brent (Michaela) Wise of Tonto Basin, Arizona. She was blessed with twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves a sister, Frances Hartley of Petersburg; as well as many nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

During her lifetime, Shirley mourned the passing of her own parents, Gothe and Edna Burton; and a brother, Robert Burton.

Visitation for Shirley Wise will be 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, Friday, June 17, 2022, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, North Chapel, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington.

Shirley's funeral services will immediately follow the visitation, also at the Ed L. Lee Chapel, North Chapel, beginning at 1:00 pm. Preacher Pat Arthur will officiate. Interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery.
