In loving memory of

Phyllis A. Schaaf
October 28, 1929 - June 6, 2022

Phyllis Schaaf was born 10-28-1929 to Opal and Clifford Cassidy in Marion, IN. She lived in Marion until moving to Wabash for her job at Signer Controls in North Manchester. After retiring from there, she moved to Fairmount. Phyllis was known by many titles, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, friend, "Philly" and Horners/Driskell's lady where she worked for 18 years. She made many lasting relationships with her coworkers and customers while working at the grocery store. But the tittle she cherished most was grandmother and mamaw. She always looked forward to family gatherings and spending time with her great grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, baking, the company of her little dogs and working in her yard. Her flowers were admired by many in the community. Her last year was spent at the Wyndmor assisted living community. She had been a legion auxiliary member for many years in Wabash and Fairmount. She was an independent, kind, caring and fun lady. She always stayed young at heart.

Phyllis is survived by two grandchildren, Jaime (Adam) Caudell and Jason (Angie) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Jack and Sam Thompson, and Luke, Lance and Lauren Wilson; and son-in-law Steve Thompson. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Norma Kirkpatrick and daughter Jackie Thompson.
Phyllis was preceded in death by daughter Jacalyn Thompson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. There are no scheduled services at this time.

"Phyllis was the sweetest neighbor to our Aunt Mary for many years! I would talk to her about her beautiful flowers in her window boxes and pots on her deck. She was a meticulous gardener. She loved and was so proud of Luke, Lance and Lauren...often bringing them over to share with Aunt Mary who loved them too. When in Fairmount, I always have to drive by those 2 houses and quietly say hello to both of them. xoxo It's just so sad Jackie passed before her. Our sincere sympathy, Michele and John Harvey"
