Rosalie (Leonardo) Bonafede

Rochester: Entered her heavenly home on June 1, 2022, at the age of 85, surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her parents, Anthony & Josephine (Marinaro) Leonardo; grandson, Caleb. Survived by her children, John G. (Stormy), Jeanne (William) Schniedewind, Joseph (Margery), Gregory (Irja), and Michael (Katrina); grandchildren, Tori, Mikaela, Carolyn, Leo, Dean, Sarah, Arielle, Siena, Mia, & Nicky; many cousins and dear friends.

Rosalie was a beloved schoolteacher and talented musician, who trained at the Eastman School of Music. She attended Nazareth College, graduated with a degree in Music in 1959, and later earned a Master's in Education. After starting a family with her husband, John, she taught First Grade at Neil Armstrong Elementary School in Gates for thirty-five years. During her many years at Neil Armstrong, she wrote, directed, and produced numerous children's musicals. She also had a lifelong passion for piano, which she played right up to the end of her life, including weekly concerts and sing-alongs at The Village at Unity, the cherished home and community of her later years. But above all, Rosalie was a devoted mother and grandmother, who often remarked that her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life.

Rosalie's life will be celebrated during her visitation on Monday, June 6th from 4-7 pm at 1411 Vintage Lane (Between Rt. 390 & Long Pond Rd.). Her Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, June 7th at 11:00 am at Parish of the Holy Family, 4100 Lyell Rd., 14606. Interment in Holy Sepulchre immediately following.
