"Becky, David and Katherine and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers and I reach out with my deepest sympathies on your loss of dear Dr. Gammel. He was a great man as you know, and a fantastic boss and I am forever grateful. I wish I could be there at the funeral to celebrate his amazing life. But please know even though I cannot make it, you and your entire family have been in my thoughts and prayers since I?ve heard the news and will continue to be as you deal with this tremendous loss. Praying for you and the family in the hopes you find some comfort in knowing he is most definitely in a better place and you will be with him again. With all my love and sympathy, Holly Hollenbeck"

"What a guy. I don?t know why, but I thought Don would live forever. So, I didn?t see this coming. My heart goes out to the many who knew, loved, and appreciated Don, notably, Becky, and Don?s immediate and extended family, and many friends and colleagues. I?m so sorry for our collective loss, but Don left a wide path of lifelong accomplishment behind for us all to emulate. I first met Don approximately 35 years ago when he was speaking at an Omaha law/medicine seminar. I knew immediately I wanted to get to know and work with Don. Accordingly, very soon thereafter, Don, Becky, and I, became professional and personal friends working law/med cases together and successfully did so for many years thereafter. During this time, my wife, Theresa, and thereafter some of my best friends, notably David Williams, and law colleagues also got the pleasure of meeting and befriending Don and Becky better on a personal level through lunches, dinners, parties, St. Patrick?s Day, and other holiday festivities, Nebraska football games, garden parties, and much more. We?re so grateful for these opportunities and will greatly miss Don being a continued part of them. Raymond and Theresa Atwood family, friends, and colleagues. "

"To Dr. Gammel's family. I had the privledge of knowing Doc, when my mom (Betty Hartwig) worked for him in Dunlap, Iowa. He was a great doctor, but even more, a great human being, and a great friend. Doc went to sleep and woke up with God and other families members. Doc, tell my mom and dad hi when you walk through the pearly gates. God bless you."
