Sheryl Ann Tanner, 64 of Glenwood, IA, passed away May 16, 2022 at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA.

Sheryl was born on April 26, 1958 in Ida Grove, IA, the youngest of four children of James Herman and Helen Joan (Torkelson) Tanner. Sheryl lived with her family in Odebolt, IA until she was five years old. She moved to the Glenwood Resource Center on August 30, 1963 and remained there the remainder of her life.

Sherry (as she was called by her family) was a happy child who liked to run and play outside. As an adult she loved long walks on the grounds of the resource center, the wind in her hair, and sitting in the sunshine. Her sweet demeanor and happy giggle made her a favorite of her caregivers. Sherry's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at GRC for the nurturing care and love extended to their sister.

Even after her death, Sherry made an impact by being an organ donor. Her gifts will help two people to see and help many others with wound healing and reconstruction.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Tanner and brother-in-law Jerry Grundel. She is survived by her sister and guardian Sandra Aves and husband Marty of Manly, IA, brother Jim Tanner (Arlene Rosdahl) of Northwood and sister Susan Grundel of Northwood. Also surviving her are four nieces; Kristine (Steve) Lentz; Jaime (Scott) McCormick; Allison Bair (Chet Kuplen); Joanna (Andrew) Weinberg, other relatives; and the staff and residents at the Glenwood Resource Center.
