Louveenia Talbert was born on a Sunday afternoon on July 25, 1936, in Metcalff, Georgia. Louveenia was the daughter of Lular and Reverend Willie Hardy, and the lead singer of the gospel choir. She became the sister to 13 brothers and sisters. So bear with us while we name them all. Walter Daniel "W.D.", Alexander "Alex", Henry Willie "Bill" "Willie Jr.", Alice, Versie Lee, Eddie M., Owen "O.N.", Roosevelt, Lucy, Robert S. "Sammie", Airee, Merelyn, and William.

She took a lot of pride in being the only daughter who worked the farm just as capably as her brothers. While attending her granddaughter's Spelman graduation, she modestly disclosed that she was awarded a full scholarship to the very school her granddaughter was graduating from. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend because she was needed at the farm.

Soon after, Louveenia moved to Cleveland to start a new life with her oldest sister Alice. While in Cleveland, she met our Dad, Huston Talbert, at Wynetta's Café (who proceeded her in death in 1990). After their fourth child, the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska: Daddy worked at the Packing House and Mama worked at home raising their six children. Clint Talbert, Helen Preston (Robert), Huston Talbert Jr., Cathy Price (David), Valerie Brooks (Bobby), Patty Talbert. After all the children were in school, mom worked a few jobs before eventually becoming records supervisor at EMC, where she retired in 2001.

While raising her children with unconditional love, Lou also helped raise her grandchildren and her grandchildren's children. Her grandchildren are Corey Preston, Christopher Talbert (Taira), Nicole Hughes (Michael), Emmanuel Brooks, Cynthia Harris, Ashley Price, Morgan Price, Sonya Brooks, and Branaja Talbert. Her great grandchildren are Ke'shavn Talbert, Crystal Talbert, Tervaris Harris, Tiana Harris, Michael Hughes, Travis Harris, Meilani Hughes, and Emerie Brown. Her great great grandson is Kaylon Thompson.
Mama was such a giving person that her last would become yours. She exemplified the love of Christ through her life and love for others. She enjoyed a good bingo game, cooked like a master chef, and reveled in watching others have a great time. She didn't just love on her children unconditionally, she also loved on her children's friends. We hope this is an acknowledgement to all of you, you know who you are, because we cannot name you all. She extended the family to include everyone who walked through her door.

One of those extended family members, Brittani Thomas, said this about our glorious matriarch.

"You know, she brought so much peace and that's something I keep with me. No matter how much chaos, she was literally the calm in the storm. You couldn't bring your mess and chaos around her. It automatically disappeared!"

Never Forgotten, love you always,
The Talbert Family

I always looked forward to seeing her at EMC retirement parties and holiday parties, also. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who knew and loved her!"
