James M. Sawyer 70 of Woonsocket passed away April 26 2022 at home. Born in Woonsocket, RI on April 18th 1952, the son of the late Thomas Sawyer, SR and Claire (Marchand) Sawyer.
He was a Marine veteran having served in Vietnam. He was stationed in Okinawa having served 17 months leading up to his honorable discharge. He was a skilled carpenter having worked for many years in the family business Sawyer & sons siding of Blackstone, MA. In his spare time he loved watching golf and spending time with family and friends. When he wasn't doing that you could find him at Wallum Lake fishing.
He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Claire Sawyer (Marchand), his sister Linda Lemoine, and his son James Sawyer II. He is survived by his son Joseph Sawyer and his companion Melissa Soden of Claremont, NH, Four brothers Thomas Sawyer Jr and his wife Diane, Charles Sawyer and his wife Sue, William Sawyer, Paul Sawyer and his wife Sandy all of Blackstone, MA and one sister Mary-Anne Riendeau and her husband Mark of Pascoag; and two granddaughters Bryanna and Leah, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 2:30 - 4PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket.
