Gary and Carla Jacobs

Gary Dennis and Carla Jean Jacobs, of West Point, Illinois, died on May 9, 2022 in their home.

Gary was born on September 9, 1944 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Arthur C. and Hilda May Harms Jacobs. Carla was born on October 25, 1947, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Robert C. and Carol E. Lovelace Loos.

Gary and Carla were high school sweethearts and met in Quincy High School. They were married on June 27, 1965 in Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ. They were going to celebrate their 57th year anniversary.

Gary worked at the Quincy Herald-Whig and farmed in the Sutter and the West Point area. Carla worked at Motorola and at Methode Electronics. They were both members of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, and Carla was a member of Home Extension, in Hancock County.

They are both survived by their daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Brunenn of Hamilton, IL, and Angie (Ted) Knorr, of Bowen, IL; four grandchildren, Ryan Brunenn, of Davenport, IA, Lucas (Kaylene) Brunenn, of West Point, IL, Kelsey Knorr, of Columbia, MO, and Jake Knorr, of Bowen, IL.

Gary is also survived by his sisters, Karen (Billy Ray) Donovan, of Denver, CO, and Phyllis (Charles) Meyer, of Worden, IL. Carla is survived by her brother, Richard (Marilyn) Loos, of Quincy.

They are both preceded in death by their parents, and Carla was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Kent Loos.

Graveside Service will be held at Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
