James Richard "Dick" Gosnell
May 24, 1933 - April 30, 2022

James Richard "Dick" Gosnell, 88, of Fairmount, died Saturday, April 30, 2022, at his Fairmount residence.

Dick was born in Fletcher, North Carolina on May 24, 1933, son of the late James Lee and Delia (Black) Gosnell. He graduated from Fairmount High School in 1953 and joined the Army shortly after serving from 1953-1956 during the Korean Conflict. He married Janice S. Avery on August 22, 1958. She preceded him in death on August 23, 2001. Dick retired from Essex Wire after 33 years of service where he worked in the Compound Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post 313 for 65 years. He coached Fairmount Little League teams for many years and served as commissioner for 3 years. Dick was also a former member of the Fairmount Civil, enjoyed bowling, playing cards at the Legion, and shooting pool at Emery's Pool Hall. He was an avid sports fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears, Indiana Hoosiers, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Dick is survived by three children, Teresa Weaver, Anderson, Sara (Rob) Williams, Madison, and Darla Fulton, Madison; 8 grandchildren, Madeana Thompson, Jess Monk, Nathan Mitchell, Joshua Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Amanda Elmore, Chad Fulton, and Ryan Fulton; 11 great-grandchildren; special friends, Teresa and Terry Avery.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Virginia Robison, brother, Charles (Carol) Gosnell, grandchildren, Johnathan Mitchell and Nicole Mitchell.

Services for Dick will be held at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home And Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana on Thursday, May 5, 2022. Visitation is from 11 AM- 1 PM with the funeral service at 1 PM with Pastor Ted Payne officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, in Fairmount with Military Rites.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairmount American Legion or the Madison-Grant Sports League in care of the funeral home.
