Jim C. Horton, 82, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Duncombe with military rites presented. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.
Jim is survived by his wife Jan, siblings Mike, Tom, Don, Steve, Bill, Betty, Teresa, Dan, Pat, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Ethel (Crovisier) Horton, infant sister Judith, siblings Virginia, Evelyn, Paul, and Greg.
James Charles Horton was born January 7, 1940. He was the eldest of fifteen. Jim graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1958. After graduation Jim enlisted in the Iowa National Guard. He was united in marriage to Janice Brandlan in November of 1965. Jim worked for Hormel's for 13 years. He bred and showed German Shorthairs for a number of years. In 1977, Jim and Jan bought land west of Fort Dodge and began farming and raising cattle. In 1994, Jim built their home. He bred and showed Gelbvieh Cattle. Jim also did custom bailing.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
