Tributes

Susan Shaw wrote on Feb 26, 2023:

"Dear Uncle Charles, you were the best of the best. You were such a huge part of my life growing up and I adored you. Your laugh, your sense of humor, the way you and my dad could make each other laugh, was absolutely wonderful. I spent so many summers at your house, and so many weekends with you and Aunt Mary. Your home was always the place I wanted to be. Thank you for the choices you made, by serving your country and being a father. Mom and Aunt Mary were at the USO the night you and daddy walked in. For you and dad who danced with them, and fell in love with them, you blessed them beyond measure by being men who were real men. Men meant to be fathers, and husbands and just great people. How many times we waited in our home, for you and Aunt Mary to arrive for holidays and special occasions?..how many times I watched you play cards at our kitchen table and laugh, the best of friends. Our summers in Tulsa, New Orleans, Philadelphia, were the best summers of my life. Bringing my babies to meet you in AZ, was just the sweetest moment. You were always there for me, and I knew you both loved me. I was so proud to call you uncle. "
