ELSIE A. OSTRENGA
January 18, 1960 - April 12, 2022

Elsie A. Ostrenga, 62, of Marquette, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at her home.

Elsie was born on January 18, 1960 in Marquette to Henry J. and Elsie (Bush) Christensen. She was a graduate of Marquette Senior High School.

Elsie married Gregory Ostrenga on January 27, 1990.

Elsie lived in Miami, FL for 12 years where she was employed as a waitress at Delaney's. She eventually moved back to the Marquette area where she was employed at the Holiday Inn for 16 years as a waitress. Elsie also did housekeeping for a number of families in Marquette.

Elsie enjoyed fishing, mushroom picking, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her son. She had a love for camping and spent many summers camping at Forest Lake and the Porcupine Mountains. Elsie, in earlier years, scuba dived and played softball and was also a former member of the Moose Lodge of Marquette. She loved animals of all kinds and had various pets throughout the years.

Elsie is survived by her husband, Greg Ostrenga of Marquette; son, Jared (Alison) Ostrenga of Marquette; grand-daughters, Tristyn and Jordyn Gallardo-Ostrenga; her mother, Elsie Christensen of Marquette; siblings, Jeffery Christensen of Gwinn, James Christensen of Marquette, Carolyn Ojala-Peto and Michael Ojala, both of League City, TX ; foster siblings, Patricia Quinnell of Marquette, Penny Harter of Wisconsin and Jeffery Martin of Escanaba; her in-laws, Arthur and Victoria Ostrenga of Wallace; best friends, Nettie and Jim Burman of Miami; as well as many nieces and nephews, including her god-son, Noah. Elsie was preceded in death by her father, Henry Christensen and two siblings, William Christensen and Dana Rose.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 1 p.m. at St. Peter Cathedral with Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass. A luncheon will take place following the mass at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Elsie's name to UPAWS, PO Box 968, Marquette, MI 49855.
