Kelly Frizzell
December 16, 1961 -

Kelly Frizzell passed away on April 8, 2022 at the age of 60. He was born and raised in Boise, ID and a 1980 graduate of Capital High School. While Kelly briefly attended Northwest Nazarene College and Point Loma Nazarene University, he settled in Phoenix AZ where he lived for 40 years. When Kelly first moved to Phoenix, he was unsure what career path he wanted to pursue until he went on a ride-along with a Phoenix Police Officer and his life's direction became quite clear. In 2021, Kelly retired as a Sergeant of the Phoenix Police Department after 37 years of service. He served in various roles during his tenure, but patrolling in the less desirable areas is where he thrived. Even toward the end of active duty, he chose to stay on patrol and mentor the new officers coming into the department.

While Kelly experienced many successes in his life, his two daughters gave him the most pride. He would light up when talking about each of them and was so proud of who they are becoming.

Kelly had expressed his desire for no service to be held and "nature" to be his final resting place. In keeping with his request, the family said farewell to him privately and Kelly will be laid to rest on the Navajo Reservation, which was a very special place for him.

He leaves behind his daughters, Anna (Cameron) Moritz and Mya Frizzell, his mother Stella "Toni" Elliott, brother Les Frizzell and sister Tawna Greene, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his father Roy Neil Frizzell.

His family would like to thank the Navajo Nation for fully embracing him, giving him a special place to reflect and be himself, and allowing him to be laid to rest. Lastly, we'd like to thank the Phoenix Police Department for the support, love and respect you have given Kelly during his time of active duty but also since his retirement. He completely loved everything about "being a cop" and considered each of you brothers/sisters.
