Charles Michael Hickok

Charles Michael Hickok, Age 74, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on April 6, 2022 after a long battle with Lymphoma. He was the spouse of Donna Kay (Henkle) Hickok, and they shared almost 53 years of marriage.

Mike, as he preferred to be called, was born in Garden City, Kansas, and was the son of Charles Edward and Jeanne Catherine Hickok. He attended high school at Grant County Rural High School, Ulysses, KS. He graduated with honors from Wichita State University and worked in the Claims Department of Federated Insurance Company for 31 years and retired early. Mike was a doer and was always working around the house and yard throughout his retirement years.

Mike was extremely intelligent, well-spoken and had a quick wit. He loved all types of music, especially bluegrass, which led to many trips to different states and foreign countries to attend bluegrass concerts. He also was a fan of all sports, especially hockey and baseball. He was a loving, dependable husband and gave great care to his wife when she was ill, and a great brother to his three sisters. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Kay, and sisters Janice Hickok, Tulsa, OK, Annette Fink, Ulysses, KS, and Linda Hickok (Cort) of Belle Plaine, KS, his niece Mickayla Fink, Wichita, KS and his beloved cats.

No funeral services are planned but plans for a Celebration of Life and burial in Ulysses in May are being made. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jam Pak Band, P.O. Box 1556, Chandler, AZ 85244, an organization that spreads the love of bluegrass by helping disadvantaged children obtain instruments, go on tours, etc.
