Tributes

John Ferrell wrote on Apr 17, 2022:

"Michael Nelson is deceased, but the memories of his life are vivid. We witnessed a person devoted to family, community, country: A pearl of stability and reason. Among his notable qualities he elevated the voices of marginalized communities, was legal representative to members of the U.S. Congress, and council to death row inmates. In numerous Omaha World Herald articles the theme of individual freedom permeates his rhetoric. Mike awakened us to flaws in our governing system, addressing controversial issues preferring reasonable solutions. An activist in peace and war, he ran for elected office, served in Vietnam, and denounced U.S. aggression. He was a patriot with thorns, a relentless flow of intelligent critical energy, a model of a life to emulate. With our love and sympathies, John R. Ferrell with Patricia and Kaitlin"
