James A. Ryder, Jr.
September 19, 1940 - April 4, 2022

James was born in Miami Beach, Florida on September 19, 1940 to the parents of James Arthur Ryder and Jane Mayhall Sharpe Ryder. James passed away April 4, 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona.

James grew up in Miami, Florida. Graduated from Ransom School in 1958, University of North Carolina in 1962, University of Florida Law School in 1966 and received a MBA from the University of Miami in 1988. James was a member of both the Florida and Arizona Bar Associations. James worked in the Ryder System Law Department for six years, then was the owner of HI-Fi Associates for 12 years in Miami. Following that, James worked at Florida Power and Light and its affiliate, Qualtec, for several years.

In 1997, James moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He was the Director of contracts for a local consulting and training company, Marshall-Qualtec. Following that, James worked at two law firms, the State of Arizona in the procurement department at the Department of Economic Security until he retired in 2008.

James has been an active photographer most of his life.

He is survived by three former wives, Norma, Sharon and Sandra and by his good friend, Connie Heinrich.

"In memory of James Ryder Jr who dated my sister while in UNC Chapel Hill NC and hisc family picked up at the Asheville NC arport where she spent several weeks in Maine with the Ryders. He also came to our home and spent time with my sister and family. He was a really nice person My sister JoAnn Newsome Green also passed away in Dec 2020. They were very much in love at the time and she always remembered him. Rest in piece Jim and may you all connect in heaven. I have always remembered how kind and good he was. "
