In loving memory of

Mildred "Mickey" Burkhart
February 18, 1935 - March 21, 2022

Mildred "Mickey" Burkhart, 87, passed March 21, 2022. She was born in Washington, February 18, 1935, to Daniel and Mildred (Guy) Kane.

A 1953 graduate of Washington Catholic High School, Mickey was a devoted homemaker. As a busy farm wife, she often worked in the fields and she grew to love her John Deere equipment. She was a fan of the TV show, Gunsmoke, and enjoyed watching IU basketball and the Indianapolis Colts. Mickey was known to be a great cook; her sons fondly recall their favorites as being her creamed potatoes and her homemade noodles. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of a bowling league and a Bunko club. Mickey was a past board member of the Farm Services Agency and a past board member of the Daviess County Chamber of Commerce. She was a faithful member of our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.

Those who now cherish Mickey's memory include her sons, William "Bill" Patrick (Ruthanne) Burkhart and Michael Franklin (Kimberly) Burkhart all of Plainville. Mickey's cherished grandchildren are: Blake Stephen (Courtney) Burkhart; Ryan Michael (Allison) Burkhart; Travis Jordan Burkhart; Evan Matthew (Katie) Burkhart; and Jenae Lynn Burkhart; great-grandchildren are: Callaway Burkhart, Colter Burkhart, Cayne Burkhart, Aidan and Emma Sievers, and Lincoln Burkhart.
Mickey leaves several nieces and nephews; and siblings: Mary Ruth Kerns and Jimmy (Phyllis) Kane both of Washington; and a sister-in-law, Jean Kane of Washington. Mickey also leaves behind many cherished friendships among the staff and residents of the Villages of Oak Ridge in Washington.

Mickey is now reunited with loved ones who preceded her in death: her parents, Daniel and Mildred Kane; her first husband, Ernest Burkhart in 1986; her second husband, Jack Lottes; her son, Stephen Eugene Burkhart; her niece, Michelle Kerns; sister, Carolyn Shafer; and brother, Daniel "Sonny" Kane.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made in Mickey's memory to the Travis Burkhart Foundation, 10274 North 200 East, Plainville, Indiana 47568.

"I will always think of Mickey when I reflect on my younger years. She would help out my mom by shuttling me back and forth to basketball practice with her son Mike? and she always treated me as a treasured guest, while I waited for my mom to pick me up. Heaven just got a little brighter with her presence. (Tony Mangin)"
