Born on February 7, 1973 in the Mojave River Valley town of Barstow, California to Terry Orr and Virginia (Lundquist) Orr. The son of a marine, Matt spent his childhood calling California, Georgia, Arizona and Nebraska his home.
From an early age, it was apparent that Matt was destined for a life full of adventures. The people that surrounded him could not help but to love him and alongside his parents and sisters Alena and Kimberly, his family grew through his best friend Darrick which gave him a second set of parents and siblings.
Matt loved the outdoors, he loved the mountains of the High Sierras and Truckee, California where they lived for almost 10 years. He loved hiking ,traveling and riding his Harley-Davidson throughout Arizona. He loved the sport of bodybuilding and worked hard, winning awards during his years of competitions.
No matter what Matt did, whether it was a hobby or his work, he did it with a passion, drive, and with his always present love for life. He spent his life loving and Matt's capacity for love was never more so apparent than when he met and fell in love with his wife Katrina Tessa "Trina" Ludwig.
Matt and Trina were married on May 2, 1998 and just when one would think that even Matt's capacity for love had a limit, Matt and Trina were given the gift of their wonderful son Logan on July 31, 2008 . Logan was Matt's everything! Together, Matt and Logan enjoyed archery, dirt bikes, go-kart racing and building anything and everything, especially out of Lego.
As a family, Matt, Trina and Logan took their RV to Yellowstone & Durango. They traveled together to Maui and Grand Cayman. Matt ensured that his adventures would also be his wife's and son's adventures. He left a legacy for his family that will live on with them forever.
He graduated in 1993 with his BAS from the University of Advancing Technology. Matt held many positions throughout his career as a mechanical designer and product developer. His last position as the Director of Engineering for MiTek Corporation was a position that he loved and he was highly respected by his peers, employees and vendors, having received an outpouring of support from the U.S., China, Germany, Australia, and Canada.
It is with profound sadness to share that Matt passed away on February 14, 2022. He left behind a legacy that will never be forgotten and that will live on through his family: wife Trina and their son and greatest gift Logan. He further leaves behind his parents Terry Orr and Virginia (Lundquist) Orr, his sisters Alena Freeman and Kimberly Orr, and the family that he was blessed with through his best friend and brother of his heart Darrick Cody, parents Walter and Wanda Cody, and sibling Ryan Cody. He leaves behind his family through his wife Trina, parents Richard and Connie (Kruckeberg) Coon, siblings Tracy and (spouse) Jaime Valencia and his nieces Dalia and Isabella Valencia.

"Trina and Logan,
I know there are no words that can lessen the heartbreak you are feeling now, but I hope you take comfort in the fact his memory and greatness will live on in the hearts and memories of all the people he worked with. He was a great person, leader, and friend. I had the pleasure working closely with Matt on projects, which am for grateful since I had the opportunity to learn from him. He had great love for you, which you could immediately tell by the way he talked about both of you. Logan, he was proud of your accomplishments and just proud to be your father. My deepest sympathy to you and all your family. Prayers for you all.

"Dear Trina/Logan,
I don?t know how to comfort you after so amazing family member left, and I also could not control my tears falling after Cyndie informed us the bad news. Matt is not only business partner, more like my friend and teacher, and we shared things in life each other, and I also learnt a lot from him how to teach kids better. He will be greatly missed and remembered by us forever.
Logan, your father said you are good at swimming, also showed me your performance at last swim event and he was proud of you, and he also mentioned he educated you a lot, but the most impressed for me is that he said ?I like my kid?. It should be lucky that so great father appeared in your life. Please be more strong and brave, I believe you can do that, everything will get well. Your father will never be forgotten and live in our heart forever.

"Dear Tina and Logan,
I knew Matt for many years, and can't denied he really dedicated to his work during every meetings, but at the same time when we are having meals and after work leisure relax drinking sessions, he always tells about his family, what he have done, and what is his planing short vacation trips during his returning to home, although we don't have chance to meet, and I know how he love his family.
Please accept our deepest condolences, missed him, stay healthy and strong.

He?s so nice to work with, always ready to solve any questions. I will remember him forever. Please be brave and find strength inside to go through the hard time. "Its always hard to find words of comfort that will matter in times like this. I had the pleasure of working directly with Matt on several projects in my short time here at MiTek and AtlasIED. I was always impressed by his leadership and his energy. I am thankful I was able to have that time and learned a lot from Matt. Matt's loss will make a huge impact on his work family but will pale in comparison to the loss you are feeling now. I am so sorry Trina and Logan. Matt will be greatly missed, but he will always be remembered by so many that appreciated him and the organization that he left such a big mark on. "
