In loving memory of

Caroline M. Dent
October 1, 1929 - February 13, 2022

Caroline Mable (Reuwsaat) Dent, daughter of Ernst and Sarah Helen (Trexel) Reuwsaat, was born October 1, 1929, at home in Lucas County, Iowa. She was the youngest of seven children. Caroline attended country school south of Denison and then moved to the Ida Grove area and went to high school there until the middle of her senior year. Following, she moved back to Denison and lived with Grandma and Grandpa Trexel until she graduated from Denison High School.

Following graduation, she worked as a telephone operator in Denison where she lived with her sister, Laura. Caroline met Lester Lynn Dent at the skating rink in April of 1948; they got engaged and later married on August 1, 1948 in Denison. To this union, they were blessed with four children: Cathy was born in 1950, Susan in 1951, Betty in 1952, and Charles in 1955. They made their home in the Irwin/Kirkman area for their entire married life.

She was a farm wife and took many meals to the field so that the family could eat their meals together. She hauled in corn, gardened and preserved the produce. In later years, she sorted seed corn for a neighbor. Caroline was a dedicated housewife and mother who had a strong faith in her Lord. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and church choir in Irwin. She participated in the Band Mothers organization at the Irwin school and neighborhood clubs. She made patchwork quilts for her whole family and prayer shawls for the church. She had a knack for crafts, especially crochet, shirret, sewing and pottery. She also enjoyed chauffeuring kids; many nieces and nephews remember having lots of fun when they visited the farm.

Caroline passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at the Friendship Home in Audubon, attaining the age of ninety-two years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn in 2017; siblings and their spouses: Emily, Rose (Vernon), Gertrude (Francis and Emil), Ben (Joyce), Bob (Audrey), and Laura (Louis), sister-in-law and her husband, Inona (Clifford); son-in-law, Doug Schmid.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Cathy Dent of Knoxville, Iowa, Susan and her husband Gene Mahnke of Manning, Betty Dent of Omaha, Nebraska and Charles Dent and his wife Rosa of Audubon; 4 grandchildren: Robin (Mike) Heaton, LeeAnn (Ronald) Christensen, Sarah Dent, and Michele Dent; 5 great-grandchildren: Tyler Heaton, Shelby Heaton, Zoey Heaton, Eric Christensen, and Eletha Christensen; brother-in-law, Ralph Dent and his wife Delores of Atlantic; other relatives and friends.

"Caroline was a very kind person. When our son passed away Caroline would see me sitting on my porch and come and make sure I was alright. She loved my little dog and I would often hear her call him up to her back door saying come on. I'll pet you and when she was done she say okay go home now. She was a great neighbor and she will be missed. Our deepest sympathy to Caroline's family and May the good Lord comfort them at this sad time. Scott and Dawn Fletcher"

"Dent Family... May the Lord provide comfort and peace during this time of sorrow. Know that the family will be in our prayers. One thing I remember about Caroline is how she would make me laugh AFTER I figured out her sense of humor; I had to think it through a bit. I remember her pottery wheel and the times at the Reuswaat Family Reunions. Memories are always in our hearts. God Bless Karen (Kauffman) & David Conder Lubbock, TX "
