Carolyn Friedman
September 3, 1930 - January 24, 2022

Carolyn (Carol) Adlington Easton Friedman passed away on January 24, 2022, after a lengthy illness. She was 91. She was born in Syracuse, New York on September 3, 1930, to Catherine (nee Perkins) and Charles Easton.
Her family traveled a lot, as her father worked as a headmaster at several private schools. She spent many of her summers in Bridgewater, Massachusetts at the Perkins' family farm. She graduated from Tudor Hall School for Girls in Indianapolis, Indiana, and went on to receive a degree in English from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and a master's degree in special education from the University of Northern Colorado.
Carol spent most of her adult years in Denver, Colorado, where she pursued her life's work for two decades guiding and supporting children with special needs at Secrest Elementary School in Arvada, a suburb of Denver. Upon her retirement, Carol traveled extensively including to Russia, Eastern Europe, Australia, and Alaska. She also volunteered at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science as well as the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
Carol was very devoted to her children and grandchildren as well as her extended family. She was also a life-long Unitarian. Carol loved her pets, especially her cats. She liked reading, swimming, the symphony, opera, the theater, the ocean, and spending time in the Rocky Mountains with family and friends.
She is survived by her two children, Janet Friedman-Pizzo (Cpt. Joseph Lynn) of Bend, Oregon, and Bruce Friedman (Amy) of Malden, Massachusetts, her five grandchildren--Richard, Hannah, David, Stephanie, and Henry, three great grandchildren, as well as her sister, Catherine Stern (Herbert) of Austin, Texas, a niece, two nephews and numerous cousins, and her former husband G. Richard Friedman of Denver.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
