In Loving Memory
Leroy David Nelson was born in Omaha, Nebraska on March 28, 1952, to Dorothy and Charles Nelson. Leroy lived in Omaha his entire life and attended Tech High. Leroy entered the meat packing industry in the early 1970's and retired in 2012.
After retirement, Leroy enjoyed spending time with his family, watching football and going to the casino. In 2016, Leroy entered an assisted living facility until he suffered a stroke and his dementia required him to move to a facility that could provide him the level of care needed to keep him safe. Throughout the last several years, Leroy has resided in a nursing home until he suffered his final stroke on January 23, 2022. His final days were spent at Emmanuel Hospital and Maple Crest Nursing Home before he was called home on February 1, 2022.
Leroy was blessed to have 5 children with Barbara Jones. The children who will miss him dearly are Jeremy David, Julius Maurice, Jessie Ray, Venus Marie, and Anthony David.
Leroy David Nelson is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Nelum and Charles Nelson, his sister, Charlotte Richards, his brother, Charles Nelson, and his son, Jessie.
Leroy is survived by his children Jeremy (Amber) Jones, Julius Jones, Venus (Lupe) Rivas, and Anthony Jones. His grandchildren Jamal Jones, Dwand Brown Jr., Marquise Jones, Jasmine Jones, Dondre' Brown, Dante' Jones, and Asia Brown. His great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Jones, Kamali Jones, Marie Jones, and Caiden Brown.
Visitation 1:00 to 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 4, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Service 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 4, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.. Burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
