In loving memory of

Jason Lee Auen
July 19, 1965 - January 31, 2022

Jason Lee Auen, age 56, of Plattsmouth, NE, passed away on January 31, 2022 at home following a brief illness. Jason was born to Marilyn Faye (Krick) Auen and Richard Lee Auen on July 19, 1965 at Iowa City, IA. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and graduated from Denison Community High School in 1984.

After graduating from high school, Jason entered the work force and hit the ground running, working in restaurants, retail, grocery, sales in many areas, and business. These employment opportunities led him to live in many different locations in Iowa, Nebraska and Texas. Although he lived in large cities, he always seemed to enjoy the small-town feel best. Jason never met a stranger - he was friendly to everyone he met and made friends easily. Jason was a wonderful cousin, devoted friend, and loving son and brother.

Jason took early retirement due to health reasons. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. He especially loved family reunions. Jason also loved to cook, especially baking and grilling marinated steaks. He also loved dining out and he enjoyed a nice glass of brandy now and then.

Family was very important to Jason. He spoke often of how dearly he missed his parents, Rich and Marilyn, and his sister Jodi, and how much he looked forward to the day they would be reunited. Jason's prayers were answered.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marilyn (Krick) Auen; his sister, Jodi Anne Auen; his grandparents, Richard and Matilda (Dressen) Auen and Roy and Arretta Anna (Fenn) Krick; his uncles, Jack Auen and Arnold Auen; and his paternal aunts, Margret, Edna, and Emogene.

Survivors include Jason's daughter, Shaylee, his aunts, Sharalyn (Krick) Flem of Pelican Rapids, MN, Karen (Krick) Otto-Schmidt (Dan) of Cherokee, IA, his uncles Herb Auen, Wally Auen and Ivan Auen, and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. June 11, 2022 in Denison, IA where Jason will be laid to rest next to his parents and his sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to an animal shelter or pet rescue of your choice.
