Rayleen G. Holzgraefe, age 96, of Quincy, died on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 4:34 a.m. in her home

Rayleen was born December 3, 1925 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Karl and Ellen Happel. She married Howard W. Holzgraefe on June 9, 1951 in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2020.

She was a graduate of Quincy High School and attended Valparaiso University. She worked in the U.S. Army Map Office in Quincy, Moorman Manufacturing, and Holzgraefe Farm Management. She was a member Lutheran Church of St. John where she served as a Sunday School teacher, was a member of the church choir, and was a Mary and Martha Guild member. Rayleen's hobbies included flower gardening, painting, and drawing. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Howard, and family activities with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She and Howard enjoyed watching sporting events together.

Survivors include three children: David (Susan) Holzgraefe of Quincy; John (Sandi) Holzgraefe of Dallas, TX; and Mary (Gerry) Holzgraefe Butler of Argyle, TX; seven grandchildren, Brian (Ashley) Holzgraefe of Chicago, IL; Krista (Ryan) Fournier of Louisville, KY; Kara (Josh) Sauder of Savoy, IL; Katie Myers of New York, NY; Blythe Lee of Dallas, TX; Jeff and Sarah Butler both of Argyle, TX; six great grandchildren: Gemma and Nora Fournier of Louisville, KY; Harper and Landon Lee of Dallas, TX; Luna LeBeau of Argyle, TX; and Palmer Sauder of Savoy, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband, Rayleen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Warren Happel and his wife, Diane; and a brother-in-law, Dick Holzgraefe and his wife, Pam.

Services: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Lutheran Church of St. John with Pastor Steve Hayden officiating.

Burial: Greenmount Cemetery

Visitation: 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Lutheran Church of St. John.
