Janice L. Allen
September 27, 1929 - January 25, 2022

A public visitation for Janice was held at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Algona. Private family services with inurnment at East Lawn Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorials will be directed to Hospice of the Heartland or the Kossuth County Animal Rescue in Jan's memory.

Janice Louise Allen was born September 27, 1929, in Forest City, the only child of Glenn and Esther (Bjelland) Hanna. She attended Algona High School where she was homecoming queen her junior year graduating in 1947.

Jan was united in marriage to William Allen on August 15, 1948. They lived in Algona where Jan worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home and the Kossuth County Home. In 1995, they moved to Whittemore.

Jan found joy being with her family and many friends. She enjoyed reading and watching football always cheering for the Green Bay Packers. She had a special love for animals having many pets at her home. Jan was a faithful member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whittemore.

Janice L. Allen died Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Heartland. She was 92.

She is survived by five children, Diane Moehle and her husband Doug of Northwood, Linda Ristau and her husband Tom of Whittemore, Nancy Johnson and her husband Jerry of Sioux Falls, SD, Jim Allen and his wife Mary of Rosemount, MN, and John Allen of Ledyard. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Bill on May 26, 2008.
