John Budd Covert

65, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Born on February 13, 1956, in Rochester, NY, he and his wife moved to Northern Virginia in 1983. He was the beloved husband of Karen Covert, father of Christine Covert and her fiancé Dan Healy, brother of Carol Brandau (Mark), Dan Covert (Marilyn), and Fred Covert (Beth), brother-in-law of Patrick Furchill (Kimberly), son-in-law of Gilbert Furchill (the late Mary), along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

John's passion was music and he was a talented musician who loved to play the guitar from a young age. He taught guitar lessons and played in various bands throughout his life including with his brothers; he was never without a guitar pick in his pocket. Into retirement, he filled his time by starting a small home-based business creating custom guitar stands that he designed and patented. He recently began writing and recording his own music. He also was an avid boater, hunter, and loved to fish. His favorite place on the water was in the Finger Lakes region of New York, where he spent time while he was growing up.

John's life story will be shared during his visitation on February 12, 11:00-12:00 noon at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane. A celebration of his life will follow 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
