Laura Jean Johnson
October 24, 1930 - January 13, 2022

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Corwith. Burial will take place in Corwith Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022 at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona.

Laura Jean (Barr) Johnson was born October 24, 1930 in Algona, daughter of Walter and Leota (Weber) Barr. She grew up in Algona graduating from Algona High School in 1950. Laura Jean worked for St. Ann's Hospital in directory services and continued working for Kossuth County Hospital in the dietary department.

On January 18, 1957 she was united in marriage to Dale Edward Johnson at United Methodist Church in Corwith. Following their marriage, Laura Jean helped Dale on the farm, operated a daycare at home, and sat with the elderly in their home.

Laura Jean enjoyed sewing, reading, word searches, coloring and baking. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Corwith where she taught Sunday School and always prepared communion. Laura Jean was a hospice volunteer, and a member of the Delta Circle. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her granddaughter and great-granddaughter were the light of her life.

Laura Jean passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt. She was 91.

She is survived by her daughters, Helen Johnson of Humboldt; Kathy Black of Dakota City, Naomi (Ray) Breakenridge of Hoover, AL; granddaughter, Jessica HabHab; great-granddaughter, Aaliyah HabHab; and many nieces and nephews. Laura Jean also adopted many other children as her own grandkids; Lennox, Liliaunna, Clarisa, Ava, Emma, Katarianna, Harper, Riyaka, Kirk and many more that she loved.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Dale; three infant sons; son-in-law, Dwayne Black; sister, Lois Dietrich, and brother, Wayne Barr.
