John Roy Goterba
October 21, 1941 - January 12, 2022

John "Jack" Roy Goterba, Sr., 80, of New Middletown, Ohio, went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 12, 2022 in Ocklawaha, Florida, his winter residence. Jack was born October 21, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Carl and Marjorie Goterba. Jack was a 1959 graduate of Springfield Local High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Upon his return from the Navy, Jack was employed by Metal Carbides and was a part time police officer for Springfield Township and New Middletown Village Police Departments.

Jack was an avid fisherman and camper and a reluctant card playing partner with his wife. Throughout the years, Jack served as a worship leader and board member at both Columbiana Tabernacle and New Life Assembly of God.

Jack was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 58 years, Marilyn Goterba (Marino) and a dedicated father of four to Sheila Kohler of Boardman, John Goterba of Canfield, Mike Goterba of New Springfield and Bobby Darrow of Columbiana. He is also survived by a brother, Robert Goterba and five grandchildren; Joel and Alex Wharry, Stephanie and Rebecca Goterba, and Nathan Purnell.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
