Richard Leon Clifford
July 12, 1943 - December 28, 2021

Richard Clifford, age 78, of Quincy, died Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 2:37 am in Blessing Hospital.

Richard was born July 12, 1943 in Quincy, the son of Wayne Shores and Pauline Clifford. On November 22, 1962, he married Ingrid E. Schelle in Karlsurhe, Germany. She survives.

Richard grew up in the Quincy area. At the age of 19, he was adopted by his grandmother Freda Clifford. After graduating from Quincy High School, Richard joined the United States Army. He was stationed in Karlsurhe, Germany, where he met the love of his life, Ingrid Schelle. After returning to Quincy he worked 27 years as a maintenance man and manager at Quincy Holiday Inn. During this time he also worked as a commercial fisherman. He later worked at Knapheide in Quincy, retiring in 2005 after 17 years. Richard enjoyed boating and was especially fond of racing having been half of the local Clifford and Hively Racing Team. He was also a member of South Side Boat Club. He sold and marketed ultralights in the area as well. He was involved in local stock car racing. Richard also enjoyed hunting and fishing, often doing so to feed his family.

Survivors in addition to his wife include: two sons, Richard (Ronda) Clifford , and Mike Clifford, both of Quincy; eight grandchildren, Richard (Jessica) Clifford, Samuel Clifford, Amanda (Curtis) Fields, Amber (Anthony) Hildenbrand, Jessica (David) Clifford, Brandi Kroeger, Jordan (Eric) Sheets, and Taylor( John) Parmenter; 11 great grandchildren, Jameson and Eleanor Clifford, Tessa and Rocko Rost, CJ Fields, Zach, Xavier, and Harmony Hildebrand, Aliviya Oshner, Arriana Kroeger, and Emilia Sheets; five siblings, Sandy (Don) Walker, Diane (Mark) Murphy, Cheryl Thomas, Mark Clifton, and Perry (Julie) Clifton; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother Pauline Clifton, his grandmother Freda Clifford, and a brother Pete Shores.

Visitation: 4:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. There will be no service.
