Maggie Lean (Jones) Forte was born February 19, 1930 in Whiteville, North Carolina to George and May Ida (Patterson) and joined her Lord on December 21, 2021 in Omaha, Nebraska surrounded by her loving family. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather James Jones, sister Pearline Powell, Aunt Annie L. McKoy, & late husband Lee H. Forte.
At a young age Maggie picked and stringed tobacco on the farm in North Carolina. She attended and graduated from Carver Moore Elementary School, and Artesian High School.
In 1948, she moved to Los Angeles, CA to work for a doctor from Whiteville as a Pathology Aide.
In July 1953, Maggie was married to Lee Henderson Forte, Shreveport, LA.
In 1981, Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate of completion, she worked numerous jobs: (Nanny, Housekeeper/Domestic, Catering, LPN, etc.)
Maggie Learned American Sign Language at an early age to communicate with her late beloved niece Ernestine Patterson Bohannon.
April 21, 1990 Maggie suffered a massive stroke in Venice, California and moved to Omaha in 1994 where she lived a good quality life post stroke. Maggie loved music, watching television and enjoyed a variety of activities including: ceramics, Pokeno and Bingo.
In 1994, she was baptized and accepted the LORD. She shared her love of the LORD, allowing her light to shine, always having a good day saying I'm blessed.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: J. Harold (Anniebell) Jones, Boris A. (Tina) Forte, V. Leon Forte, Veronis La Rose Forte, Abdul Jihad, Andre D. Forte, Kerri Jones, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and brothers: Jimmy (Emmaline) Jones, Rudolph Powell and sister: Pearline Powell and a host of other family members. Maggie leaves a host of family, friends and loved ones to cherish her memories nationwide, not limited to family in NC, SC, CT, MD, TX, PA, DC, FL, CA, NE etc.
The family extends gratitude to friends, family, caregivers and all allied health personnel.
We are forever grateful for every act of kindness during this time as we lay her to rest. We love and appreciate you.
