"Velva is our favorite preschool grandma! I love her smile, her wit, and her friendliness. I can\'t think of a better mother and grandmother than Velva. We will surely miss her cheerfulness, her wisdom, and her thoughtfulness! We Love You Grandma Velva! Mrs. Rosaline"
"Velva was such a beautiful lady. Inner and outer beauty both she radiated goodness. She was the first Ward member when I moved in to introduce herself and she asked me to sit by her in church. She also invited me to a church study group in which I found her to be so very strong and insightful about the gospel. It really meant a lot to me. And we were neighbors in the same four Plex. It was only the week before she passed she was telling me of her plans to visit family for the holidays. And talked about her recent cataract surgery and health, etc. I feel like I found out about her passing a week or so later. It was so sad. I wish I had been a better neighbor and friend. I did not know her family. Although she always spoke of them fondly. And her grandchildren sports etc activities. Please know my prayers are with you all. You have a beautiful guardian Angel. Love, Carrie James"

"Lots of fun times when we lived in the Logan First Ward. Especially working in Yellowstone one summer.
"I worked with Velva at Lincoln School when she was the music teacher there. She was always very kind and pleasant. I appreciate the friendship we had. May you all be comforted in her absence. Kathleen Voth"
"All the times I saw Velva she had a smile & a great laugh though the \"mom face\" may have appeared also. I believe through Lori I have met all of her daughters some more than others, my Love & prayers go out to you all along with the grandchildren & loved ones. May you all find peace as she now has. XOXO "
