Carl Edward Bryant
August 26, 1932 - November 14, 2021

Carl Edward Bryant, 89, was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on August 26th, 1932, to Ulyssess S. Bryant Sr. and Mary E. Bryant. Carl transitioned to his heavenly home on November 14th, 2021, surrounded by a loving family in the comfort of his home.

In his youth, Carl enjoyed playing trumpet in his high school band and his father's band. He graduated from Hooper City High School in Birmingham. He went on to pursue a career in the United States Navy, where he was honorably discharged in 1955. Following a Navy career, Carl pursued higher education at San Diego City College and various careers until retiring from USE Credit Union after devoting 11 years there.

On June 5th, 1982, Carl married Velma Bryant. As a couple, they attended Christian Fellowship Church in San Diego, CA, and sang in the church choir. Together, they enjoyed time together with family and friends. Carl was known for his passion for fishing, camping, gardening, and singing throughout his life.

As a man of admirable character and skill, Carl has achieved many accomplishments in his lifetime. Particularly in the U.S. Navy, Carl received many medals and awards, including Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Ribbon, and Combat Aircrewman Wings.

Carl was one of seven children and is survived by his son, Mark (Diane) Bryant, granddaughter Markia Bryant, two siblings, bonus children William (Keri) Payton, Antonio (Cynthia) Payton, Gwendolyn (Charles) Matthews, Theodosia (Ray) Heard, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
