"My deepest sympathy to the Banse family. So many memories of Ray and Bette watching the Ne football games at their house. Fun times at all the functions we were at together. Ray had the best interesting stories to tell that were never boring. I will miss my dear friend. I'm sure Mark met you at the Pearly Gates for the best reunion ever. RIP Ray."

Al Alexander wrote on Dec 11, 2021:

"I am heartbroken. I'm a writer, but I have no words to express the depth of my grief. It was Ray who suggested way back when that I become a sportswriter. It lit the lightbulb that directed me toward my life's path. For that, I will always be grateful. But even more, he was the father I never had at home. He welcomed me as one of the family, always affectionately calling me Hoss. What I'd give to hear him call me that one last time. Most of all, he gave me his wonderful son, Bill, my best friend and best man at my wedding. Ray's contribution to making my life better is invaluable and it was an honor and privilege to love and call him my friend. Rest in peace, Pa!"
