In loving memory of

Ardus (Sam) Drewes
July 13, 1942 - November 8, 2021

Ardus (Sam) Drewes passed away on Monday, November 8th, 2021 in Phoenix, AZ. Sam was born in Chicago, Illinois to Fred and Madge Drewes and grew up in the Des Plaines area. He was married to Patricia Marra Drewes for 50 years, and they raised four daughters, Gina, Lisa, Michele, and Teresa in Wheeling, Illinois. Sam was a welder by trade, a skill he used to build race cars, serve in the US Army, and earn a living. He was an avid fan of the Cubs, the Bears, and NASCAR racing. Sam was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina, and survived by his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, Ben, Erin, Beckett, Taylor and Lola, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Everybody loved Uncle Sam. His family and friends near and far grieve his loss, but as Sam often reminded us with a small smile in times of grief, "Well, no one gets out of here alive".

Contributions may be made in Sam's memory to the ALS Association.

"Sam will always hold a special place in my heart. I am blessed to have had many Thanksgivings at the table with Sam and seeing him not only when he would come for the summer, but in his beautiful home he shared with his lovely wife Pat. I am going to miss you SAM however I know that you are watching over us all! Sending love and hugs to the family!"
