Thora Lombard
November 12, 1935 - November 27, 2021

Thora R. Lombard, 86, of Rushford, MN died on Saturday, November 27,
2021, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
Thora was born on November 12, 1935, in Norway Township of Fillmore
County, MN to Wilhelm and Dora (Solem) Magelssen. She was a 1953
graduate of Rushford High School. On September 25, 1954, Thora was
united in marriage with Richard Lombard at Highland Prairie Lutheran
Church in rural Peterson, MN. Thora and Richard raised their eight
children in Bratsberg, south of Rushford. She loved everything about
being a mother and homemaker. Thora was a very talented cook and made
the very best comfort food. She worked at Norseland Lefse in Rushford
for 26 years where she made many, many rounds of lefse. The lefse
could never be too thick or too thin, Thora made sure it was always
just right. She ran her own in-home daycare for many years. Thora was
known for her great love of animals. She loved her many cats and dogs
and feeding the birds. She was a member of Highland Prairie Lutheran
Thora is survived by seven children: Brenda Torgerson of Red Wing, MN,
Becky Lombard of Rochester, MN, Paul (Carol) Lombard of Holmen, WI,
Mona (Ron) McAndrew of Kasson, MN, Pete (Mary) Lombard of Byron, MN,
Dave Lombard of Rushford, and Pat (Chris) Lombard of O'Fallon, MO; 19
grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and two great-great
grandchildren; and by one sister, Sonja (Jerome) Kulas of Winona, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Liz; and
two brothers: Roald and Leif Magelssen.
The family prefers memorials in Thora's memory be directed to Highland
Prairie Lutheran Church.
There will be a funeral service for Thora at 12:00 noon on December
11, 2021, at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church with the Reverend Luther
Mathsen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation
will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford is assisting the family with arrangements.

"It?s hard to have a beloved Mother pass away but you can take comfort she is rejoicing in her eternal life with Jesus, her Savior. Your Mom was one of my favorite Highland Prairie ?church Moms.? She was a wonderful person. Cynthia Westby Hoaglund"

"Thora was a dear friend ever since grade school and all through our high school years in Rushford. After their marriage, Thora & Dick settled in Bratsberg and we came over to visit them many times. We had so many good times together. Our deepest sympathy to her family."
