Harvey George Maas
April 6, 1924 - November 27, 2021

Williamsburg- Harvey George Maas was born April 6, 1924 in South Amana, Iowa, the son of Edwin H and Martha (Sandersfeld) Maas. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School. He served in the US Army during WWII. On September 14, 1950 Harvey was united in marriage to Mabel Grace Becker at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. He was the general manager of Iowa County Farm Service Co., for many years. He was a life long Williamsburg resident, wintering in Mesa, Arizona after retirement. Harvey was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Iburg-Poulson VFW Post #8797 for over 50 years, the Williamsburg Kiwanis Club- serving as Lt. Gov. from 1976-1977 and he served one term as the Iowa County Treasurer from 1962-1966. He enjoyed swimming and playing cards, games and shuffleboard. Harvey died on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 97 years.

He is survived by a daughter Karen (Delfino) Maas-Gil of Williamsburg; a son Lynn (Beth) Maas of Blue Grass; eight grandchildren Rick (Katie) DeBlois, Michael DeBlois, Alex (Vanessa) Gil, Gabriela Gil, Martin Gil, Kevin (Jenny) Maas, Travis (Teresa) Maas & Pamela (Nick Wriedt) Maas ; seven great grandchildren Olivia De Blois, Jett, Dax &Vada Maas Keegan Loveless and Brandon & Emma'le Maas; three great, great grandchildren Pierce, Boone & Willow Loveless; and a sister Arlene Vondracek of Clutier. He was preceded by his parents; wife Mabel; sister Loretta Schumacher; significant other Mary Lou Henry; and a great granddaughter-in-law Abby Platt

A Celebration Of Life Memorial Service will be held 10:30 am on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 4-7 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
