Doris Evans
January 25, 1930 - November 25, 2021

Williamsburg-Doris (Coffman) Evans was born January 25, 1930, in South English, Iowa. The daughter of Everett and Beulah (Shelly) Coffman. She graduated from Kinross High School and Iowa State Teachers College and Kirkwood Nursing College. Doris was united in marriage to Allyn "Cris" Evans on April 4, 1954 at the English River Church of the Brethren near South English. Doris taught school for a number of years before her marriage. She later was a nurse at the Yearian Nursing Home in Williamsburg and then Marengo Hospital. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg and the P.E.O. She was on the Oak Hill Cemetery board for 50 years. Doris enjoyed birdwatching and sightseeing. Doris passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the Highland Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 91.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Gahring of Williamsburg, Ellen (James Hopps) Evans of Woodstock, GA and Valerie (Kevin) Rackley of Temple, TX; 4 grandsons, Dwight Gahring of Williamsburg, Brandon (Caitlin) Gahring of Nashville, TN, Allyn Hopps and Bryan Hopps both of Woodstock, GA; a brother, David (Margaret) Coffman of Davenport and 2 sisters-in-law, Jeanne Krieg of Marion and Willie Coffman-Green of South English. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Leland and twin brother Donald, a sister Marie and a son-in-law Dale Gahring.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am on Monday, November 29, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. There will be a P.E.O. service at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the First Presbyterian Church, Oak Hill Cemetery or Iowa City Hospice.
