In loving memory of

Gary Lee Sepp
January 30, 1947 - October 10, 2021

Gary Lee Sepp, 74, of Phoenix, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at his home.

Gary was born in Champaign, IL, and was the son of Raymond and Thelma Sepp. He attended the American Lutheran Church in Rantoul. He always held a special place in his heart for his IL family. Gary graduated from Carthage College in Kenosha, WI with a B.A. in Physics. As a SSgt in the US Air Force, he served in the USA, then in Thailand, and finally was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson. Gary worked in a variety of sales positions, including commercial leasing, life and health insurance, and real estate. Once he retired he enjoyed working part-time in retail sales at Allied Surplus with their military surplus supplies.

Gary was the embodiment of "a stranger is a friend who you haven't met yet." He was Facebook before there was FB. If it was your birthday, you'd get a personal phone call from him to let you know he was thinking of you on your 'special' day.

He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Master in Phoenix, AZ and served as LCOM's liaison with Camp Aloma in Prescott, AZ. Gary was also a member of U-Tapao, an AF group of buddies that served in Thailand. He enjoyed the outdoors - camping, hunting, and scouting for the next elk hunt. If you were traveling, he'd pull out his weathered Rand McNally Road Atlas to help you plan your trip, then share who he knew along the way to help you if you needed it.

One of his proudest accomplishments was getting his Light Sport Pilot License at age 70 through his son's (Tyler) flight school. He loved reading books, especially Louis L'Amour novels, and anything involving history. In addition, he was also a ham radio operator and was dedicated to learning that unique skill of communicating. Gary will be remembered for his wit, corny jokes, teaching of gun safety, dedication to helping others, and (of course) wearing his unique vest and hat. He was a second "Dad" to many of his children's friends and loved to be there for them over the years.

He is survived by his wife, Patty, and was married for 43 years; daughter Tami (Tamale) (and the grand-dogs Lucy, Edgar, Obie), son Todd and Carrie Sepp, and their children, Reagan and Jack; son Tyler and Valerie Sepp, and their son, Colton, (and the grand-dogs, Zee-Zee and Muschu); daughter Traci and Kaoru (K.) Fujita (and the grand-dog, Billie Jean) and is predeceased by his brother, Gene Sepp and sister, Kay Sepp.
