Jerry L. Kilgore
May 1, 1940 - November 13, 2021

Jerry L. Kilgore, 81, passed away at home on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Jerry was born in Matthews, Indiana, on May 1, 1940, to the late Wayne and Hildreth Kilgore. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1959 and then worked for 30 years at General Motors, retiring in 1992. On December 17, 1960, he married Carol Reece and she survives in Upland. Jerry attended Center Chapel United Methodist Church and he enjoyed camping and boating. For 26 years, he served as a volunteer firefighter for the Jefferson Township Fire Department. He enjoyed camping at Jellystone Park in Pierceton in Indiana and going to Florida in the winter.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Kim (Rod) Lassiter, Jara (Rich) Thornburgh, and Tracy (Jill) Kilgore; brother, Dale Kilgore; sister-in-law, Jane Kilgore; nine grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Hildreth; brothers, John and Howard (Barbara) Kilgore; and sister-in-law, Janet Kilgore.
Arrangements for Jerry have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana, where a visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., as well as an hour before the funeral service. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating.
