Edna Fern Miller
December 21, 1934 - November 15, 2021

Edna (Hochstetler) Miller was born December 21, 1934, in rural Johnson County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Aaron and Mary Hochstetler. She attended Oakland School through 8th grade. On October 17, 1954 she was united in marriage to (Elwood) Gene Miller, at East Union Mennonite Church rural Kalona. She was baptized in her youth at East Union Mennonite. She had been a faithful member of Kalona Mennonite Church for over 60 years. After raising 5 children she worked at Economy Advertising in Iowa City retiring from there in 1999. Edna enjoyed participating in WSMC at Kalona Mennonite. She was a talented artist, enjoyed drawing, canvas painting, and painting ceramics. Edna passed away Monday, November 15, 2021 at Halcyon House in Washington at the age of 86 years.

Survivors include daughter Evie (Daniel) Bender of Kalona, sons; Jerry ( Lou Ann) Miller of Kalona, Cal Miller of Round Rock Tx., Phil (Karol) Miller of Iowa City Ia., Galen Miller of Kalona. 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene in 2020, sisters Ruby Cutshall, Gladys Smith, brothers Franklin, Samuel, and infant brother, and great granddaughter Eliza Bender

A Celebration Of Life Service will be held 10:30 am Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will be at Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice.
