In loving memory of

James "Jim" Gibbs
August 11, 1946 - November 12, 2021

James "Jim" Gibbs, age 75, was called to his Heavenly home on November 12, 2021 after a short illness.
Jim was born on August 11, 1946 to Gordon and Lorraine (Ellinghuysen) in Winona, MN. He graduated from Lewiston-Altura High School with the Class of 1964. On September 26, 1970 he was united in marriage to Ardyce "Ardi" Glende and together they were blessed with three sons. Jim worked as a Meat Manager for Piggly Wiggly, Mr. P's Family Market, and Rainbow Foods until his retirement in 2001. He also spent time working with his son Dan at Gibbs Lawn Care.
Jim's passion in life was working. He treasured time helping his sons with projects on the farm, with the business, and around the house. Jim enjoyed mowing lawns, trimming trees, cutting wood, and other outside activities. He was a devoted and proud member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Byron and took pride in caring for the church and working on the building committee. Above all, Jim was most proud of his family and he cherished every moment spent with them. He loved to support his sons and his grandkids in their various paths of life. He taught them invaluable lessons about God and hard work. Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ardi; his three sons and their families, Jason and Michelle Gibbs of Redwood Falls, and their kids, Annika and Jordan; Nathan and Bridget of Rollingstone, and their kids, Cora, Jamie, and Lindsey; and Dan and Danni of Byron, and their kids, Griffin, Natalie, Claire, Greta, and Elin; his siblings, Shirley (Don) Boes of Clovis, NM and Henry (Julie) Gibbs of Altura; and his sister-in-law, Susan Gibbs of Winona.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Arnold "Butch" Gibbs.
A Funeral Service for Jim will be held at 11am on Wednesday, November 17th 2021 at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, 923 2nd Ave NW, Byron, MN. A Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 at the church and from 10-11am on Wednesday, November 17th. Jim will be laid to rest in the Jehovah Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in Altura. Hoff Funeral Home - St. Charles, is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Byron, Immanuel Lutheran-Silo School in Lewiston, or Jehovah Ev. Lutheran Church in Altura.
