In loving memory of

Janice H. Stanchus
April 5, 1929 - November 7, 2021

Janice H. (Kopp) Stanchus

Janice Stanchus was someone who cared very deeply about others. This was reflected in her relationships with not only her family but friends and neighbors. She often showed her friendly nature by offering her signature culinary delights for those she loved. There wasn't a picnic without her potato salad, a Thanksgiving without her butternut squash, or a birthday without her mayonnaise cake. They were enjoyed by so many.
Janice was the only child of Carl & Loretta Kopp. Though she did not have siblings, her cousin Jim (also an only child) filled that role wonderfully and they were more like brother and sister. The family often gathered at a cottage on Irondequoit Bay.

She attended grade school at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and later attended business school. Janice worked at Rochester Telephone as a company clerk, but her most important work was being a good wife, mother, and daughter. She took care of them all. She met her husband Casimer at a family dinner. They wed on July 26, 1958, at St. Michael's Church. They raised 3 children Kathleen, Robert, and David. Vacations were mostly taking trips to enjoy family in PA, MI, and NJ, with trips to Niagara Falls on occasion.

Janice had very strong faith and was always involved in her church. First at St. Michaels, then at St. John the Evangelist Church. She prayed a lot for people and things that were dear to her heart.
She also loved to read, watch her soap operas and take care of her husband and children. You'd often hear her say "Wait till your father gets home!" or "Love & prayers!" She loved the Sound of Music and music from Engelbert Humperdinck. She was a fan of the Shirley Temple show, The Waltons, and more recently Everyone Loves Raymond and The King of Queens.

As the family became bigger, Janice's love of taking care of people grew with grandchildren to look after. Because she shared her love so freely, she was very loved in return. Her family and those in her social circles describe her as "the sweetest lady on this earth." Janice will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

November 7, 2021, at the age of 92. Predeceased by her parents, Carl & Loretta Kopp. Janice is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 63 years, Casimer J. Stanchus; children, Kathy (Joe Cirincione) Campbell, Robert (Carol) Stanchus, David (Marianne) Stanchus; daughter-in-law, Jen Donofrio; grandchildren, Christina (Alex) Sherman, Jessica (Scott) Owen, Elizabeth (Alysha Cropsey) Stanchus, Julia (Brandon) Alt & Andrea (Noah Ritzel) Stanchus; great-grandchildren, Owen & Alina Sherman, Haley & Jackson Robert Owen; many cousins, nieces, nephews & dear friends.

Janice's life story will be shared during visitation, 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, November 12th at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 13th at 11:30 am at St. Marks Church, 54 Kuhn Road. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations can be made to Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, 2652 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester NY 14626, or Ronald McDonald House Charities, 333 Westmoreland Dr, Rochester NY 14620 in Janice's name.
