Loren Ray Youngstrom
October 23, 1937 - October 24, 2021
Loren Ray (Sonny) Youngstrom, 84, of Rising City, Nebraska, passed away October 24, 2021 after a courageous fight with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Hazel Youngstrom, his sister LaDonna Lockwood, and two brothers, Laurence Vosberg and Clarence Vosberg.
Loren was born in Armour, South Dakota on October 23, 1937. He was hard-working from a very young age; helping out on the family farm but still finding time to be a loyal friend. Loren attended and graduated from Armour High School. In 1958, he joined the Army Reserve and later enlisted in the Army where he served several years in Hawaii. After the Army, Loren was a dedicated and talented welder at Behlen's Manufacturing Company for 25 years before retiring.
He loved working in his yard, feeding the birds, tinkering with his truck, and trapping with his close friend Butch. Loren wasn't much of a traveler, but once arriving he very much enjoyed his Omaha and Des Moines family visits! His high-spirited personality and "no-nonsense" sense of humor will give those of us who really knew him many memories to keep Loren near and dear to our hearts.
Loren is survived by his sister Dorothy Vosberg, nephew Randy Vosberg, and nieces Sherry Wood, Carla Dougherty, Barbara Hartman, and Lori Cigic and their families. Special thanks to friends Butch and Connie Manley and the caregivers at the Veteran's Community Living Center in Grand Island.
